Strengthen your coaching skills, build-up your practice and refine your ICF Core Competencies

A mentor coach certification that gives you the opportunity to confidently deliver mentor coaching services to your coaching colleagues

In setting high global standards for professional coaching, ICF’s credentialing system requires each applicant to partner with a Mentor Coach. Mentor Coaches focus on applicants’ coaching skills, rather than coaching them on practice building, life balance or other topics. The most effective Mentor Coaches bring broad-based coaching education and experience to their interactions with coach-clients.

Coaches interested in providing services as a Mentor Coach must have:

  • an in-depth familiarity with and consistent personal application of the ICF Core Competency skills and behaviors;
  • a Specialized Mentor Coach training, ICF assessor training and/or ACTP Mentor Coach training;
  • knowledge of current ICF Credentialing requirements and procedures
  • a current ICF Credential at or above the level for which the potential coach-client is applying and sustaining a coaching practice
  • Seek to become mentor coaches and offer mentor coaching services for their peers
  • Want to renew an ICF credential (ACC/PCC/MCC)
  • Are Internal coaches in organizations who mentor coach other coaches
  • Want to get feedback in order to improve the quality of their coaching practice
  • Want to pursuit or renew an ICF credential and therefore want to engage in a thorough practical developmental process with a group of coaches
  • Want to apply for an ICF Credential and need mentoring hours
  • Are experienced coaches and want to strengthen their coaching skills and understand at a deeper level the ICF Core Competencies
